Taksim square is still maintaing its characteristic of being a meeting point as well as a separating point. Due to its service, for so many years, as a center for distribution of city water to other districts of the city the square was called Taksim, (meaning “dividing” in Turkish.)

Gallery spaces of Faculty of Fine Arts (Marmara University in Acıbadem) were offered to host exhibitions designed by seventeen galleries between the dates 6th and 10th of March within the framework of “galeriler asyakada” (on the asian side). This idea of dividing the space and bringing together those who have interest in contemporary art became the source of inspiration for Gallery Apel which is only a walking distance from “Taksim”. Fifty meter square spared space was divided equally to install seven “cloumns” created by our “seven” artists.curator Nuran Terzioğlu “taksim –asya’da- taksim” is exhibited a second time in the lower floor of Gallery Apel between the dates 12th of April – 12th of May.
