“the border is a line which bespeaks both desertion and chaos” in its new quarters Apel 5/2, gallery apel will host “Indifferent Realms,” a solo exhibition by Mürüvvet Türkyılmaz, from 29 April to 29 May.
In the works she has produced since 1997, Mürüvvet Türkyılmaz has pursued questions related to geography, memory loss, borders, the pace of social life, the psychological realms generated by that pace, the compression of space-time, and the functionality of maps. In drawings on walls and other materials, and which she qualifies as ‘writing-drawing,’ she sets out on a voyage having to do with mapping, geography and borders. This voyage is accomplished between stations, stops and everyday items, and it seeks the definition of a process along lines the thrust forward and knot up.“The border is a line which bespeaks both desertion and chaos.” So says the artist, who prefers to bring together in her installations such varying media as photographs, videos and objects. In the exhibition entitled “Indifferent Realms”, she goes beyond the gallery to install work at three different sites (stations) she has chosen in the neighborhood, thus taking visitors on a journey along a certain line.Türkyılmaz has participated in a number of exhibitions at home and abroad, and this time includes “building the exhibition until it opens,” a process with which she has experimented in previous shows. Thus the gallery will act as the artist’s studio and in this capacity welcome visitors from 20 to 28 April. three different sites (stations) she has chosen in the neighborhood are;gülçin gıda pazarı bostanbaşı cad. no:25 galatasaraytom tom suites boğazkesen caddesi. tomtom kaptan sokak no.18 neverland hostel boğazkesen cad. no:96
