“Reading Corner” has been one of Gallery Apel's most favorite themes. In order to mark the participation of Turkey as the “guest of honor” at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2008, Apel organized a “Reading Corner” exhibition in 2007. Later on, this exhibition received further invitations from three different organizations.

The exhibition was installed at the “Art Space” section of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2008, at Santa Maria Della Scala in Siena and at Museum der Arbeit in Hamburg in 2009. Each time the exhibition was retailored to suit the new venue and its atmosphere. Finally, an enlarged and intense version of the "Reading Corner" occupied almost every corner of the gallery in September 2009. Ten years have gone by since then. Last year, Apel celebrated its twentieth anniversary. The preparations for the fourth catalogue covering the gallery’s activities for the last four years are completed. In order to commemorate the launching of the catalogue, we are in the process of installing "Reading Corner 2019" exhibition. Works of the invited artists who had not joined the previous exhibitions will be on view. Each work is displayed as soon as they arrive at the gallery. While living in a world of rapid and radical changes, we wanted to draw attention to the pleasures that we often neglect. There will not be an opening for the exhibit, except for the launch of the exhibition. Viewers are welcome to witness each phase of the exhibition.
