In this solo exhibition “bıyıkaltı”, Şakir Gökçebağ has selected found objects from everyday life, mostly such masculine items as worry beads and belts, redesigning them through Anatolia’s special brand of humor to bestow a fresh aesthetic meaning distinct from their symbolic and functional roles.

In these “absurd” objects and installations, which reach from life to the unconscious and then back to life again, the viewer finds, in lieu of the familiar, a reality full of surprises.
